PC = Personal Computer = a computer whose original sales price, size, and capabilities make it useful for individuals

It is always goes Mac vs PC… but if Macs are PCs, that’s just like saying
Football vs sports
-or-
PS2 vs video game systems
-or-
Nokia vs cell phone companies
Football is a sport
PS2 is a video game system
Nokia is a cell phone company
Macs are PCs (if I am correct, lol)
Unless Apple regards themselves not useful to individuals (which their boasting website claims otherwise), they are making sense.
So are Macs PCs, or not?
idk, I just think its just one of those words people use incorrectly. For instance, a lot of people call pretty much anything random, although what they are talking about may not be random.
In the strictest sense of all the words involved, you’re absolutely correct. “Macs” and “PCs” are both Personal Computers, in the sense that they are small, general purpose (to contrast them to say an xbox) and affordable and people have them ones in their own homes. Technically, thats all you need to be called a Personal Computer.
But to get a real picture of whats going on you will have to go back and have a look at some history. There was a time a long time ago when the IBM dinosaur was still the king of computers. IBM created the first thing that would today be called a PC, and many other companies quickly started cloning their hardware making IBM clones. These IBM clones are what we now call a “pc”. If you have a box from any software even as late as 1993 you will see that the minimum system requirements are an “IBM compatible machine”.
Macs had a slightly different history. Again, going back in to history, even as recently as about 8 years ago, IBMs used their own line of processors that weren’t compatible with the x86 (intel style) processors that IBM pcs used. They used a Motorola processor. This meant that anything written for a Mac computer couldn’t possibly run on a pc. So Mac and PC evolved pretty much independently of each other.
Its only recently that Mac has switched to x86. So now Macs and PCs are essentially the same hardware wise. Apart from an arbitrary lock on OSX preventing it from installing it on non-mac hardware, there is no difference between Macs and PCs (a little of a lie, but no large differences). So these days when someone says PC vs Mac, what they really mean is Windows vs OSX.
